Dewey Rosetti

Hi. I’m Dewey Rosetti. Like you, the last thing I wanted to hear was that my child was not keeping up in the classroom. How can you not keep up in Kindergarten? I thought she had too much energy to sit still all day and things would work themselves out.

But things only got worse. I noticed her personality was changing. She was becoming defiant, angry and easily agitated. She wasn’t learning to read at the same rate as the other kids. Something was definitely going on. I just wasn’t sure what it was.

Finally, in the third grade, her teacher called me in. She showed me a picture my daughter had made. It showed a little blonde girl, like my daughter, putting a match to the school. It finally hit home just how miserable she was. We were not invited back to that school the next year. After many rejections, we finally found a good fit for her at the Charles Armstrong School. That was life changing for all of us.

Finally my daughter was in a school where she fit it. Their strengths-based program helped to rebuild her confidence and allowed her to thrive. She not only learned to read, but she became a top student.

I got involved too and learn many new things while working in the classroom. I learned the importance of a growth mindset to help kids thrive. I learned how to speak in a positive way that helped everyone.

Plus, I learned that it wasn’t my fault. The more I blamed myself, the more everyone suffered. I learned to understand that every person is different and that in these differences, so comes their stregnths.

“Adults can improve a child's weaknesses by teaching and guiding via the child's strengths. Dewey Rosetti combines her own maternal instincts with the wisdom of some of the most prominent practitioners in our field today to design a unique approach to teaching and reaching struggling learners.”
